Of course, let's also admit that this appreciation is strictly linked to the emotional charge that we learned to give to it:<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Uncertainty, separation, absence, fear and pain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>What do I mean\u2026<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Let us imagine for a moment that, when we were children, we saw a joyful farewell party for each of the relatives who passed away; that the films starring \u201cLa Pelona\u201d were not classified as drama, suspense or horror, but as comedy; that in books the end of existence was represented as an expected and pleasant journey; that the death of our loved ones was just a matter of not seeing their bodies anymore, because we continued to feel their warm presence; even so, around the world and regardless of the religion professed, there are official days for devotees and non-believers to commemorate their deceased:<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:list --><\/p>\n<ul><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Ching Ming <\/strong>\u2013 April 4 or 5 (Chinese Day of the Dead)<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Gai Jatra<\/strong> \u2013 between August and September (or <em>Cow Procession<\/em>; Nepalese Day of the Dead celebration)<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Mahalaya <\/strong>\u2013 September 15 (Hindu ceremony to evoke past spirits; date varies, depending on the moon)<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Halloween<\/strong> \u2013 October 31 (<em>All Hallows\u2019 Eve<\/em>)<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Samhain\u00a0<\/strong><em>\u2013\u00a0<\/em>October 31 (Celtic festival of transition and opening to the other world)<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>All Saints\u2019 Day<\/strong> \u2013 November 1 (Ibero-American religious holiday)<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>All Souls\u2019 Day<\/strong> \u2013 November 2 (Ibero-American religious holiday)<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Day of the Dead<\/strong> \u2013 November 1 and 2 (Mexican pagan holiday)<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Fet Gede\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 November 2 (or\u00a0<em>All Souls\u2019 Day<\/em>, Haitian voodoo celebration)\u2026 among others.<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --><\/ul>\n<p><!-- \/wp:list --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>For most cultures, venerating the deceased and wishing them eternal rest is something deeply rooted, including the most diverse traditions, such as changing the clothes of mummified relatives, hanging willow branches so that they do not return turned into yellow dogs, or building a cow with cloth, paper, bamboo and portraits of the deceased, then parading it through the streets, accompanied by children who drink milk and wear costumes representing the same bovine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">For those of us who speak <a href=\"https:\/\/4umadrid.com\/en\/tours\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Spanish<\/a>, everything is a little simpler and is concentrated in the first days of November.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/esmadrid.com\/agenda\/dia-muertos-casa-mexico\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The\u00a0<em>D\u00eda de Muertos<\/em><\/a>, Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad, tiene su \u00abcuartel general\u00bb en nuestro \u00ab<a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/M%C3%A9xico\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">M\u00e9xico lindo y querido<\/a>\u00bb, con unos or\u00edgenes prehisp\u00e1nicos y algo macabros, relacionados con la conservaci\u00f3n de cr\u00e1neos como trofeos, para mostrarlos en los rituales que simbolizaban la muerte y el renacimiento\u2026 pero ya se dejaron de eso! En el presente, la celebraci\u00f3n es tan colorida y entra\u00f1able, como el fiel retrato que la factor\u00eda de Mickey Mouse hizo de ella.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Thanks to the large Mexican community that lives in the Spanish capital, this first Friday of the penultimate month of 2018, <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/4umadrid.com\/en\/madrid-en-cifras\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">La Tabacalera de Lavapi\u00e9s<\/a><\/em><\/strong>will be filled with tradition, music, flavor Faithful Departed<\/em>, a religious commemoration, where we pray for those who are stuck in Purgatory, the holiday of November 1st, known by all as <em>All Saints' Day<\/em>, where we celebrate those who have already passed the celestial transit zone, is much more important... come on, we put on a party (with a day off included), only for those who had their passport stamped by Saint of the work and namesake of our guide Gus. In this celebration, inspired by the aforementioned mountain in the Castilian province, the terrifying legend is read in front of the heat of a bonfire, and then the bravest are allowed to walk barefoot on the blanket of embers.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>In any case, in addition to eating panellets, chestnuts, wind fritters, aniseed doughnuts or saints' bones, taking flowers to cemeteries and enjoying the rites, rituals and customs of each region is usually the option of those who wish to take advantage of the date to remember their loved ones.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">My choice will continue to be to think of my loved ones, without sadness and without the limit of a number in the <a href=\"https:\/\/4umadrid.com\/en\/madrid-free-tour-historia-y-curiosidades\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">agenda<\/a>\u2026 mourning is an indispensable process, but once a reasonable time has passed, we should remember the dead as beings of light, who have retired to a better place, because although melancholy and longing are understandable emotions, the dead
