In fact, it&#039;s located on the eighth floor of the Cibeles Palace, the former Communications Palace, which locals still affectionately call &quot;Correos.&quot;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, from its 70-meter height, you can see the city in 360 degrees: the Gran V\u00eda, Alcal\u00e1 Street, the Paseo de la Castellana, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.madrid.es\/parquedelretiro\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Retiro Park<\/a> They are easily distinguishable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Cibeles Palace, much more than a viewpoint<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Specifically, the building was designed and built by Antonio Palacios and Joaqu\u00edn Otamendi as the headquarters of the Spanish Postal and Telegraph Society. It was inaugurated in 1909 and, later, in 1993, was declared a Site of Cultural Interest with the category of Monument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It currently houses the headquarters of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.madrid.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Madrid City Council<\/a> and the CentroCentro cultural center, with free temporary exhibitions. Therefore, you can combine your visit to the viewpoint with a cultural tour in the same building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Likewise, the square that surrounds it contains some of the city&#039;s most recognizable buildings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Cibeles Fountain<\/strong>, where Real Madrid celebrates its titles.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Bank of Spain<\/strong>, whose vault is not the one that appears in *Money Heist*.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Linares Palace<\/strong>, home to the Casa de Am\u00e9rica and the subject of several ghost legends.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Buenavista Palace<\/strong>, headquarters of the Army General Staff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to get to the Cibeles viewpoint<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Metro<\/strong>Lines 1 and 10, Banco de Espa\u00f1a station, less than a minute&#039;s walk away.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Bus<\/strong>Numerous bus lines stop in the square itself, including lines 1, 2, 5, 9, 14, 27, 34, 51, 52, 53, 74, 146 and 150.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Walking<\/strong>It is ten minutes from Puerta del Sol and five from the Prado Museum.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Address<\/strong>: Plaza de Cibeles, 1. Access to the viewpoint is through the CentroCentro entrance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Opening hours, tickets and price<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for the opening hours, the viewpoint is open from Tuesday to Sunday, in two shifts: from 10:30 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 19:30. It remains closed on Mondays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">General admission is around \u20ac3, and children under 12 enter free. However, it&#039;s worth noting that opening hours and prices change fairly often, so it&#039;s best to check the website. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.madrid.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Madrid City Council<\/a> before going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Access is organized in shifts, and places in each group are limited. Consequently, on weekends and holidays, it&#039;s easy to find yourself without a spot if you arrive late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tips for making the most of your visit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Choose a clear day.<\/strong> With haze or low clouds, much of the interest is lost.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Allow half an hour.<\/strong> Ideally, you should first take a complete lap to get your bearings and then take the photos.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Go up during the golden hour.<\/strong> The last hour of daylight, around 6:00 PM in winter and later in summer, is the best time for photography.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Arrive with plenty of room to spare.<\/strong> Tickets per shift are limited and sell out quickly.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Bundle up.<\/strong> At 70 meters high and without protection, the wind is much more noticeable than on the street.<\/li>\n\n<li><strong>Combine it<\/strong> with the <a href=\"https:\/\/4umadrid.com\/en\/el-prado-de-gabinete-de-ciencias-a-templo-del-arte\/\">Prado Museum<\/a> or with a stroll through the <a href=\"https:\/\/4umadrid.com\/en\/conoce-el-barrio-de-las-letras-historia-viva-entre-cafes-y-literatura\/\">Literary Quarter<\/a>, both just a few minutes away.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What can you see from above?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, the panorama is complete, with no buildings obstructing the view in any direction. Specifically, to the northwest unfolds the Gran V\u00eda with its domes and the Metropolis building.
